Epic all mountain-ride to Arosa and back! A must do!
(some hike-a-bike incuded)
This tour includes a long hike-a-bike section but the trail through the "Welschtobel" is well worth the effort!
Start downhill from the Rothorn heading south along the rough gravel road. Include the trail shortcuts for a spicy start into the tour, or roll down to the "Alp Sanaspans" hiking trail. 500 more meters of fun, technical downhill trail await you. (Popular amongst hikers, try to avoid it in peak times.) Don´t miss the turnoff at 2150 m altitude. From here you will have to push and carry your bike for about 60-90 minutes.
Eventually you´ll make it to Culmet (2614 m). A short but fun downhill later its back to the hike-a-bike routine again, but very short only. At the "Furcletta" the trail starts. Fast, with mostly easy turns on a bit of loose gravel, solid rock, soil and some roots in the lower part. The trail ends at Arosa´s purification plant and a short road uphill gets you to town. Pedal to the "Hörnli"-lift and go up to "Hörnlihütte". If you are tired the "Urdenfürggli"-Gondola allows an easy return to the Lenzerheide area. (Not always in operation - check before the tour!)
Alternatively follow the trail first down and later up (150 additional meters) to the Urdenfürggli. Follow the bike trails until the water reservoir at "Alp Scharmoin". Here you can choose to take the lesser known natural trail direction Valbella or ride one of the bikepark trails back to Lenzerheide.
