Komulanköngäs mtb route 8 km, Ukkohalla
The Komulanköngäs circuit is a circular route starting from the center of Ukkohalla. The highlight of the route is the Komulanköngäs waterfall, which has two six-meter falls and an old mill. The best time to experience the rapids is during the spring flood from late April to early June, but the waterfalls are beautiful at other times as well. The route passes through varied forest and swamp landscapes. Along the route alternate pine-dominated heathlands, young dense mixed forests along the riverbank, and open swamp landscapes. There are two campfire sites in the Komulanköngäs area where you can take a break and enjoy snacks by the fire.
The route is technically challenging and is not the optimal choice for first-time mountain bikers. There are many rocks and roots on the route as well as some elevation changes. A nice route for those with previous mountain biking experience!

The starting point of the Komulanköngäs route is next to the Ukkohalla parking area by the shore of Syväjärvi, near the information board for the area's hiking routes.
At the beginning of the route, you follow the shore of Syväjärvi westward. At the lake's western end, the path turns left and crosses a road. The initial section is on dry heathland, but soon descends onto the boardwalks of Hyttisuo. After about 1.5 kilometers, you reach a junction where the route branches into a circular path. The recommended direction to go around is clockwise, so continue straight along the southern edge of Pirttilamminsuo from the junction.
The path rises from the edge of the swamp to drier, flat heath. After about 1.5 kilometers from the previous junction, you arrive at a trail intersection. Signs indicate that this path is part of the UKK trail. Turning left leads to the Vorloki route and right to the Kokkoharju route. Turn right towards Komulanköngäs.
After the junction, the path follows the shore of the Syväjoki river for approximately two kilometers all the way to the Komulanköngäs waterfall, where there is a renovated campfire site with a beautiful view of the falls. From the campfire site, the path returns to the swamp area, which is walked about 200 meters back in the return direction. From the swamp edge, the route diverges from the arrival route to the left, along boardwalks into the forest. A narrower forest trail winds through varied forest landscapes for about 3 kilometers. Before the circular route junction, you walk along the beautiful northern edge of Pirttilammensuo. From the junction, turn back in the direction of arrival and follow the same path back to Ukkohalla.
