Demanding mountain bike route with a sensational panoramic view and everything that goes with it!!
We start directly from Hotel Alpendorf uphill towards Oberalpendorf. From there continue below the Dachmannweg to the Wagrainer Bundesstraße. About 1.5 km along the Bundesstraße towards Wagrain. Then left uphill via Floitensberger Straße. From here it goes uphill about 1,100 meters elevation gain with a few short flat sections. First along a paved road, later on a gravel road. In the upper section the path is partially very steep. But it is worth the effort because the view from Heinrich-Kiener-Haus is truly unique. On the way back we either take the same path or the route to the Vogeihütte. This branches off about 400 meters below the summit and is highly recommended. We always head towards the Vogeihütte and from there the mountain road downhill towards Wagrainer Bundesstraße. From there back to St. Johann im Pongau and finally the Bundesstraße back to Alpendorf.
Author’s recommendation
A Radler and a sausage soup at Heinrich-Kiener-Haus is a must. And afterwards you should definitely have a Kaiserschmarrn at the Vogeihütten!!

Roadbook
From Alpendorf uphill towards Oberalpendorf. About 100 meters past the Hotel Edelweiss turn left towards Ötzmooshof. Along the Dachmannweg below towards Wagrainer Bundesstraße. Once at the bottom turn right and continue for about 1.5 km along the Bundesstraße. Then turn left uphill on Floitensberger Straße. Approximately 1100 meters elevation gain always towards Heinrich-Kiener-Haus or Hochgründeck. Return the same way, or via the single-trail-like path to the Vogeihütte. From the Vogeihütte take the road downhill to Wagrainer Bundesstraße. Then continue along the road towards St. Johann im Pongau. And from there further along the Bundesstraße back to Alpendorf
