    Tips and suggestions

I require riders following to behave considerately and without endangering other path users, as well as riding adaptively and gently to best preserve the trails and nature.

    Roadbook

    1. We start in Kiens at the bridge over the Rienz, turning left onto the cycle route to Bruneck. After 230m, we switch right up onto the Roman road. After another 230m, turn left taking the right, narrower path. It leads directly to a house. Here, continue straight through the village, left onto Rennerweg and right onto Ehrenburgerstraße. Stay straight on this road. After Ehrenburg Castle, it is closed to through traffic and runs along the right side of Kienberg to Montal.
    2. In the village of Montal, we cross the SP157 straight ahead and pass the Hotel Alpenrose. Outside the village, we join SP125 and follow it straight uphill into the forest. In Onach at Gasthof Onach, go straight onto the slightly descending road. After the valley cut, stay right uphill through several hairpin bends. At Wieserhof, turn right and continue uphill along the forest road starting there. We remain on this forest road, partly following the Anton Schwingshackl Trail. At heights of 1730m and 1790m, keep left both times. The unexpected end of the forest road should not stop us. After 20m of pushing, you are back on another forest road. One wonders why the two paths are not connected. At the gate, stay on the forest road and after a short descent, keep right twice. You reach Welschellener Alm (refreshment stop). Just behind the Alm, turn left and pedal steeply uphill. Eventually, you come above the tree line and it levels out. You are now near the Lüsner Joch.
    3. At the bench, turn right onto route 26 towards Col dal Lech. This is the name of the mountain whose summit cross is already visible. We need to dismount twice briefly, once after the bench and once below the summit. Continue on route 26 to Glittnersee (S0). At the lake, continue on route 10 along the Schwingshackl Route. After a wide traverse of the mountain terrain, the path descends towards Wieseralm (S1). At the Alm, ride along the fence (also the entire north side) and then continue on the 10 Karrenweg. It constantly goes up and down but is rideable. You reach Jakobsstöckl, a small chapel at Astalm.
    4. We ride the forest road briefly downhill but soon turn left. This gravel path leads uphill again and takes us past the Campill summit to Campiller Alm. At the Alm, continue downhill on trail 12B (S2). On the other side of the hollow, climb again with short pushing sections. A short detour to Ellener Kreuz with splendid valley views is possible just before reaching Kaserhütte. The panoramic traverse of the high alpine terrain ends here.
    5. Now we focus on the descent. Turn right onto route 67 downhill (S2). It initially crosses the road, but a bit lower, we must follow the forest road until route 67 branches right again. After a difficult section, you reach Walderalm. Continue on the trail until you meet a forest road. Shortly turn right and the tarmac begins at a parking lot. Due to lack of alternatives, we ride the tarmac road downhill. After 4 hairpin bends, route 67 turns right again. Soon you arrive at Gasthof Häusler and ride along the meadow path below to Ellen. Here turn left onto the tarmac road downhill. At the second right curve, continue straight and switch to route 11. At Kröss, directly by the house, descend on the meadow path and continue straight on route 11 along the forest edge. At Erschbaumer, descend the meadow again and follow the forest edge to the right. After the meadow, a trail through a cleared area starts again. At the fork, turn left. Finally, you arrive at Gasser in the village of Ehrenburg.
    6. Ride straight through the village. After a long right curve, turn left. Then right and immediately left onto the Roman road. Before going uphill, branch left onto the gravel path. We join the Pustertal cycle route and turn right. Soon we reach the starting point at the bridge in Kiens.
