Today, on 02.08.2021, the weather is finally supposed to be somewhat nice again, but in the mountains, clouds are already piling up again in the morning. Since I didn't feel like wandering around in the fog clouds in the mountains, I preferred today to enjoy mountain biking in the flatter parts of the country. I will wait until noon until most of the clouds have dissolved and then start my route to the Ätschberg.

This EMTB route was really great fun, I wish all "imitators" the best on this beautiful route. Also see my GPS recording and the photos in the attachment.

    Safety information

My routes with GPS recordings do not always follow a marked and signposted mountain bike or hiking trail, and the hiking tours can have difficulties up to almost T6. Of course, I assume no liability for damages and accidents that may occur while undertaking a route listed on this homepage.

    Roadbook

    General route description:

    Rorschach – Roggwil – Watt – Wittenbach – Erlenholz – Engelburg – Ätschberg, and back via: Hohfirst – Tannenberg - Waldkirch – Hauptwil (pond) – Wilen – Leutswil – Winden – Roggwil – Steinach – Horn - Rorschach:

Time required, 4.45 hrs, route length, 68 kilometers, elevation gain 912 m, difficulty, none, (L),

This route is interesting and varied; the MTB rider will not get bored on this tour. The route mostly follows bike, agricultural, and hiking trails; only occasionally did I deviate onto a car-accessible road due to time constraints. The highlight was the ride from Ätschberg to Waldkirch and the ride past the five Hauptwiler ponds, the names of the five ponds being (Hauptwiler pond / Gwand pond / Horbacher pond / Rüti pond and Horber pond).
