The starting point is the Stockerhütte in the Mallnitz Tauerntal. There is also a parking lot there, or you can reach the Stockerhütte from the Mallnitz town center via the "Tauerntalrunde (Stockerhütte)" route. The first and longest section is the toll panoramic road to Jamnigalm for cars. Cyclists can use the paved toll road free of charge. At the end of the toll road, you reach a gravel road to the Jamnighütte on the right side via a wooden bridge. On the left is the Jamnigalm parking lot. The gravel road leads to the Jamnighütte.

Mallnitz is ideally accessible by train, international express trains stop at the Mallnitz-Obervellach station every 2 hours.
Arrival by car: via the B106 (Mölltal federal road) to Obervellach, from there via the B105 for 8 km to Mallnitz.
