Pure solitude! An old road, then a gravel track to the high pastures of Urbez comfortably lead us to the trailhead. Technically easy, but "bumpy" it goes downhill.
A comfortable uphill for Zona Zero initially runs along a lonely road, then over an abandoned forest track into the solitude of the high pastures of Urbez. Wild boar tracks at the roadside indicate that people are rather rare here. Through forests of ancient boxwood trees, we wind to a surprisingly open high pasture. Here, artfully constructed stone walls show traces of a long-past time; today, at most a few sheep graze here. The downhill trail is relatively wide and easy for local standards, but the many loose slate slabs, stones, and rocks demand our full attention. The last part is more of a classic trail with partly large rock plateaus, ruts, and steps – but consistently no harder than S2.
