Unlike other destinations, the trail crew of Davos also maintains paths that are not in the direct fall line of the cable cars. One of these somewhat more outside gems is the descent from Chörbschhorn. In endless loops, a super trail winds down around 700 meters in altitude to the Stafelalp.
Not less beautiful, but quite different, is the descent from Rinerhorn into the Sertig Valley. Combined with the ridge trail towards Clavadel, this makes an exceptional freeride tour.

Safety information
The singletrail from Äbirügg into the Sertig Valley is - in the opposite direction - part of the Epic Trail. There is heavy opposing traffic during the day. Those who start shortly after noon at Weissfluhjoch will probably arrive at Jatzmeder around 3:30 pm. At this time, the trail into the Sertig Valley should be more or less conflict-free to ride.
On the way back to Davos, please strictly observe the bike ban before Clavadel.
Roadbook
At the Parsennbahn valley station, we buy a biker day ticket for CHF 55. Then the lift takes us up in two sections to Weissfluhjoch.
On the route of a former train track, we reach Wasserscheidi, where we turn left into the Haupter Tälli. An increasingly steep gravel road leads down to the valley station of the ski lift.
A few switchbacks and a smoothly rideable traverse lead to the entrance of the rock path. Over this, we reach the Strelapass within minutes.
After a short crossing to the mountain station of the ski lift, it’s time to push first. Past the Strelasee, some sections are hardly rideable. We also dismount for the steeper ramps. The day is still long. Afterwards, the trail becomes smoother again, and we quickly reach Latschüelfurgga.
Now, pushing and riding sections alternate until the Chörbschhorn hut. About 90 minutes after starting from Weissfluhjoch, we reach the hut on the shoulder of the Chörbschhorn.
After a short break, we take on the trail to Stafelalp. Some rocky sections force less experienced bikers to dismount. However, interruptions are brief. Most of the trail is excellently maintained and fluid to ride. After what feels like an eternity, we reach the Maiensäss Stafelalp (with refreshment options).
From Stafelalp, we first cross some hundred meters horizontally to the left (north) on a rideable path before entering a singletrail. Although steep, the difficulties are manageable. Soon, we meet the farm road leading to Stafelalp.
The continuing trail is clearly beyond our levels. Therefore, we follow the bike signposts and rush down - first on gravel, later on asphalt - to Lengmatta. From here, the path to the valley station of the Rinerhornbahn is easy to find (refreshment options).
The Rinerhorn lift takes us up to Jatzmeder (refreshment options). Then we pedal slightly uphill on a rideable path to the barbecue site at Äbirügg.
Those who like it a bit challenging now find a singletrail of the highest class. Partly flowing, partly technical, but always beautifully scenic, it descends to the back of the Sertig Valley. After a last bumpy track, we turn off at the Sand bus stop (refreshment options) and roll on asphalt to the nearby Sertig village (refreshment options).
Of course, one could now comfortably race down the Sertig Valley on the asphalt road. But we haven’t had enough yet and find the entrance to the next trail segment a few meters downhill on the right.
Right at the beginning, a sign warns that after 3.8 km a bike riding ban will force pushing. The singletrail itself requires some extra effort, but is appealing, well maintained, and beautiful to ride. After a small suspension bridge and a brief descent, the path ends as announced on an alpine road with a riding ban.
Conscientiously, we push the bike a few hundred meters down the road until a riding ban sign in the opposite direction marks the end of the "problem zone."
Now it is not far to Clavadel, where we join the flowing trail on the Jakobshorn slope. Along the slope, we ride towards Davos. The trail ends on a farm road which leads downhill in the forest above Bolgen. Below the Jakobshorn lift, we still take the freeride trail down to Bolgen (refreshment options).
The crossing through Davos back to the starting point at the Parsennbahn in the village is now just coasting.

Equipment
Both the descent from Chörbschhorn and from Äbirügg are fun with an Allmountain or Enduro bike. We feel more comfortable with knee and elbow pads.
Experienced riders can definitely manage it with a Cross Country bike, but the round is less enjoyable with a hardtail.
