The uphill to Ballon d'Alsace is easy on an asphalt road, but has to be shared with cars. Once on top a very difficult technical trail takes you east. This hard part is in the parc naturel and should only be ridden in off-times or pushed in presence of hikers! The middle part of the ride is an amazing enduro-style trail for advanced riders. It is called "enduro paradise" for a reason... The last part from Gresson Haut to Oberbruck is a mix of bike- and hiking trail and makes a flowy end to this fantastic tour.

Author’s recommendation

On top of Ballon d'Alsace be super mindful and ride in off-peak times only. Parc naturel! The first part is really hard - experts only. If you want to skip this part access the route via "Gresson Bas", "Gresson Moyen" and "Gresson Haut" throught the valley north of the Dolleren ridge...
