From the Woerthersee through the Rosental and Jauntal to the Austrian-Slovenian border at Lavamünd. Via the Soboth, very popular among motorcyclists, it goes into Styria and through the white wine-growing regions via Hebalpe back to Carinthia. The crossing of the Saualpe takes place over the Klippitztoerl and via the Krappfeld and the Zollfeld, passing historic Carinthian monuments (Hochosterwitz, Herzogstuhl, Maria Saal), one returns to Klagenfurt and the Woerthersee.

    Roadbook

From Velden, the route follows the southern shore of the largest and best-known 'bathtub' of Carinthia, the Woerthersee, and after a few kilometers, one reaches Maria Woerth with the famous peninsula and church. Continuing via Reifnitz to Klagenfurt, where you turn onto the south ring road. Past the new football stadium, built for the EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, with a capacity of over 30,000 spectators. At the McDonald's intersection, turn right into Rosentaler Straße and follow the B91 towards Ferlach. Shortly before Kirschentheuer, the Drau, Carinthia's longest and most important river, is crossed, which is dammed here to form the Ferlach reservoir. You enter the tranquil Rosental and follow the B85 eastwards. A short climb up to the Abbey brings the first curve sensations, and at the end of this small pass, you can visit the Wildensteiner Waterfall near Gallizien. Continuing via Sittersdorf to Bleiburg, known as the birthplace of the artist Kiki Kogelnik. At Aich, you can glimpse the Jauntal bridge, one of Europe's highest railway bridges, where daring people can try bungee jumping. At Lavamünd, the route climbs a beautiful, winding road up to the Soboth (1,349 m), through forests and many open stretches – a phenomenal landscape. From here, you are in Styria. The numerous wine-growing areas are unmistakable; from Eibiswald to Deutschlandsberg, the path follows the Schilcher Wine Road, named after the typically regional rosé wine. The route continues on a perfectly developed road from Deutschlandsberg up to the Hebalm (1,380 m). Via Preitenegg, it goes back to Carinthia. After Twimberg, turn right towards Bad St. Leonhard and then left at Wiesenau to climb up to the Klippitztörl, the highest point of this route at 1,644 m. A long descent follows, and at the end of the Löllinger valley, you reach the Görtschitz valley. This is quickly left again towards Guttaring, and now you head south through the Krappfeld, Carinthia's 'granary.' Passing the Hochosterwitz castle near Launsdorf and via St. Donat arriving in the Zollfeld, where a detour to Magdalensberg is well worth it. Via Maria Saal, it goes to Klagenfurt, and the tour ends by taking the route along the northern shore of the Woerthersee, passing Krumpendorf and Poertschach before returning to the starting point, Velden.
