Kurvenkönig
It is the largest lake in Austria – and probably the most famous in the country. It creates its own mild biker climate and is one of the most popular travel destinations in eastern Austria from spring to autumn – Lake Neusiedl. On this circular tour, we will take a close look at it.
Neusiedl am See, located on the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl, has belonged to Austria since 1921. Historical sights such as the parish church, the Trinity column, and the castle ruins on Taborberg are as charming as the beach with swimming, surfing, and sailing opportunities. Eisenstadt, the small state capital, is dominated by Esterházy Palace, which holds a mysterious past. Petronell Castle, once a medieval water castle, was converted into a baroque style in the 17th century and served as a film set. The Danube, Europe's second-longest river, is closely connected to Austria. The bridge of Andau, a symbol of escape from the Hungarian uprising of 1956, is now a monument. Lake Neusiedl, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a shallow steppe lake particularly appreciated for its mild climate and bathing temperatures in summer.
