Biking Lords of the Castle

The Franz Liszt Museum in Raiding, the birthplace of the famous composer, commemorates the piano virtuoso. The house, part of a former castle, came into the possession of the Esterházy family in 1805. It houses, among other things, the restored organ from the old church. The Bucklige Welt, known as the "Land of 1000 Hills," offers a landscape of valleys and hills as well as a rich history dating back to the 3rd millennium BC. Burg Bernstein, one of the region's most important refuge castles, was acquired in 1892 by the noble Almásy family and today serves as a hotel. Burg Lockenhaus, built around 1200, contains mysterious clues about a possible connection to the Knights Templar. The Via Romana, a historic traffic route, runs through Burgenland and is particularly well preserved in Frankenau-Unterpullendorf. In Deutschkreutz, the regional wine tavern "Vinatrium" invites visitors to taste the best wines of the Blaufränkisch region.
