Stage 4: From Wildseelodersee to Wildseeloder summit and down to Fieberbrunn
The fourth stage of the "WaiWi" starts high up at Wildseelodersee! Strengthened by a magnificent mountain breakfast, it goes up the steep slope right of the shelter hut to the summit of the "Loders," as it is called by the locals. Leaving the mountain lake behind, the path leads through a rock gate and then opens up entirely new mountain views. Along the ridge, over the back, and from the south side to the summit! The highest goal of the route is reached!
From Waidring to Wildseeloder, whose summit is at 2,118 m above sea level and whose cross was forged from the last Pillersee steel. In the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps, you stand very high, the distant view seemingly limitless! Time to pause and look back on the path, the WaiWi, with all its highlights before you embark on the last part of the route, the descent to Fieberbrunn.
Over the Seenieder and Wildalm, the path leads down towards the valley. A detour to the mountain inn Wildalpgatterl is definitely worth it. The bread comes from the in-house stone oven, the meat from the neighbor farmer, and herbs from their own garden. The descent continues along the forest road down to the middle station of the Fieberbrunn cable cars. Here, just behind the Gasthof Streuböden Alm, there is a nature adventure playground for young and old.
Timoks Alm invites you to linger with an adventure trail, a coaster ride, a forest rope park, and playgrounds. To the right of the Timoks coaster ride, the path leads toward Speichersee, and just before it, it turns left down towards "Brent" and Lauchsee. The initially quite direct path downhill then merges into an asphalt road.
Here above Lauchsee, in the valley depression, lie the last farms, and you look inward toward Pletzergraben, a witness to a long mining tradition in Fieberbrunn. In the 16th century, mining flourished; the miners undertook the long, often dangerous journey winter and summer, and the gained "Pillersee steel" was widely known! The St. Daniel Gebra Chapel can be seen at the end of the valley on a rise. Originally a baroque miners’ chapel in the former mining area of Fieberbrunn, the old, dilapidated chapel was rebuilt in 1975 as a memorial. The last 2.5 km of the WaiWi await. Passing by the bathing lake Lauchsee, after two or three bends you get closer to the center of Fieberbrunn.
On the way to the village square, you discover two cultural features below the church: the sculpture of a miner, who reminds the valley of the traditions and hardships of the past, and the Fieberbrunnen, which healed the regional ruler Margarethe Maultasch from fever and thus gave the place its name. The third stage ends at the square in front of the community center, the summit of the Wildseeloder looks down, and behind it lies the WaiWi. Four stages through the PillerseeTal that should provide insight into the diversity and unique mountain experiences of the region! Stage is set for further mountain experiences in the Tyrolean PillerseeTal!
