Near the Gradina Visitor Center, on the slope of Mount Castellazzo/Gradina, between 1916 and 1917 Italian soldiers built Cadorna House. In view of the location, it was a refuge completely sheltered from enemy attacks, which is why the military command was also stationed here. The refuge was named after General and head of the Italian supreme command Luigi Cadorna. Today it offers us an exceptional view of Lake Doberdò/Doberdobsko jezero and the Trieste Karst with its historically important highlands such as Arupacupa/Gorjupa kupa, Mount Debeli/Debeli vrh, Mount Ermada/Grmada, etc.
