Roadbook
Start from the Church of Cagnatico, a hamlet of Odolo, and take Via Cete, a steep little road until you find the CAI arrows indicating trail 488 and 489. The trail we are interested in is the latter, 489, to our left.
Follow the road to a junction with a yellow barrier and continue until you take a path characterized by several hairpin bends.
The climb becomes steep on a partly stepped path until you reach a bench with a splendid view of the Odolo village and the surrounding mountains, from which you can glimpse the CAI Hut.
Another 20 minutes of steep climbing until you reach a small road and, turning left, you reach the beautiful refuge of the Odolo Alpine Club with a nice veranda always open with a panoramic view of the Conca d’Oro and its mountain peaks. Thanks to “Telescopes,” made with tubes arranged in a fan shape, you can distinguish many peaks, specifically: Monte Doppo, Prealba, Guglielmo, Palo, Colle san Zeno, Rifugio Nasego, Monte Ario, Monte Pezzeda, Monte Falcone, Monte Tigaldine, Monte Colombine, Corna Blacca, Cima Caldoline, Dosso Alto, Monte Castello, Cima Spessa, Monte Cadria, Monte Besume, Monte Zigla, Monte Spino, Monte Pizzocolo and finally closing the circle Monte Baldo.
After resting, following the signs, you reach a hunting stand and, via a dirt road, you arrive at the fork for Monte Corvino (which however is not part of this itinerary), to turn left onto a descending path and, once at a junction, keep left. The slope becomes steep and in just over 20 minutes you find yourself at the valley bottom where a cart track gently descends and crosses the cemented road already traveled on the way out; turning right, in 10 minutes you arrive at the Church of Cagnatico.
Directions
Arriving from Brescia, the fastest way to reach Odolo is via the Coste di S. Eusebio (SP237 road). Once in town, take the second exit at both roundabouts, continue straight until a junction (where there is a restaurant) and turn right. Then continue straight to the Church of Cagnatico, with the parking lot on its right.
Arriving instead from the other villages in the Valley, take Via Giuseppe Garibaldi and follow it to the historic center. Once you pass a Church (located on your right), turn left (Via Mazzini); from here, continue straight to Cagnatico Square.
