Junction system
The route is signposted according to the junction system. The great advantage of this is that the walker can determine their own route. A brochure of the network has been published with the route map and much background information about the region as well as practical information about catering, accommodation, and transport. The map was available for purchase at regional VVV offices and campsites in the area.
Walking route network
The Marsh Harrier Trail introduces the walker to the rural area of the municipality of Goes in an attractive way. The trail runs over farmland and grass dikes, along hedges and seeded field edges, and follows the banks of the creek de Schenge, the Veerse Meer, and the Oosterschelde. The trail also passes through the authentic church-ring village Oud-Sabbinge, the lively Wolphaartsdijk with its marina, the beautiful canal-side Wilhelminadorp, and the historic city center of Goes. You mainly walk over partly paved and unpaved paths or quiet agricultural roads. More than one third of the route is specially opened for walkers.
Route map
With the route map, you can compose your own route: a walk of an hour, an afternoon, or even a long day hike of about 25 kilometers. In the field, the junction signs guide you.
Starting points and parking
The Marsh Harrier Trail has eight starting points where you can easily park your car. Some starting points are also easily accessible by bus or train. At each starting point, you will find a map of the route network. The planned route here starts at Kanoa near the Veerse Meer.
Junction points
By walking from one junction to another, you create your own route. There are 43 junctions. At each junction, a number and an arrow indicate how to get to the next junction. Between junctions, the route is only indicated with arrows.
