Legendary huts & legendary rock faces!
Continue east on trail 827 until you reach the entrance to the Bettlersteig trail. In a series of sharp bends, this leads past the Talofenschlucht gorge and the north face of the Hackenköpfe mountains. It begins with a steep descent, mostly on steps and across eight ditches, with one passage secured using a wire rope and iron clamps. Heading shortly uphill, you will then reach the Strasswalch Jagdhütte mountain hut below the Strasswalchschlucht gorge and continue further into the Kaisertal valley on the Bettlersteig trail. This will bring you to the Anton-Karg-Haus mountain hut (also known as Hinterbärenbad, 829 m), which is located in a picturesque basin above the Hörfarter Kapelle chapel.
On footpath 96/801 you walk along the stream and over steps slightly uphill to the cosy Hans-Berger-Haus (also known as Kaisertalhaus, 936 m) with regional cuisine and traditional mountaineering ambience.
From here you continue along path 801, the climb becomes steeper, through the forest and over serpentines and a number of steps on your way up to the Stripsenjochhaus mountain hut (1,577 m). This is located on a rise at the foot of the legendary “Totenkirchl” and “Fleischbank” rock faces, which have attained cult status in climbing circles. Enjoy the sunset as it turns the Wilder Kaiser peaks orange!

Lush alpine pastures, organic mountain cuisine, summit library, and legendary rock faces!
Behind the Pension Maier (922 m), from the parking lot (paid), Forest Road 45 leads moderately uphill to Walleralm, an alpine hamlet at the foot of the Zettenkaiser peak. A short ascent to Kreuzbichl is rewarded with magnificent views of the Inn Valley, or you can enjoy a refreshment stop at the Stöfflhütte or Walleralm.
The trail continues on path 827 over alpine meadows past the Jägerbrünnl and through the forest to the cross at Hochegg (1,470 m). The Adlerweg leads further over gentle alpine pastures to the cozy Kaindlhütte (1,293 m), on the Steinbergalm, a beautiful high plateau above Kufstein. Leisurely hikers can use the calm and idyllic high plateau for afternoon rest and plan an intermediate overnight stay. In the evening, chamois can be observed grazing while the peaks of Scheffauer and Zettenkaiser glow in the sunset.
The trail 827 then continues eastwards until you reach the entrance to the Bettlersteig. This path descends steeply in switchbacks past the Talofen Gorge and the north face of the Hackenköpfe, mostly on stairs and over eight ravines; one section is secured with wire rope and three iron clamps. Then you ascend to the Straßwalch hunting lodge below the Straßwalch Gorge and continue on the Bettlersteig into the Kaisertal to the lovingly run Anton-Karg-Haus (also called Hinterbärenbad, 829 m), picturesque in a basin above the Hörfarter Chapel.
On footpath 96/801, you walk along the stream and ascend gently via steps to the Hans-Berger-Haus (also called Kaisertalhaus, 936 m), where hostess Silvia awaits you with organic cuisine and a summit library.
Along bands of dwarf pines, you then climb steeper on path 801 through the forest and over many stairs to the Stripsenjochhaus (1,577 m), located on a saddle at the foot of the legendary rock faces “Totenkirchl” and “Fleischbank,” which have cult status in climbing circles. Enjoy the sunset with orange glowing Kaiser peaks!
