6-7 day hike
A part of the trail was impassable because of a cold winter (2008-2009) with a lot of snow. Due to the ammount of snow, a lot of trees (actually a whole forrest) snapped by the weight of the snow.
So we had to go down and took a part by public transportation.
Author’s recommendation
A few mountain cabins (Stefanika, Kamenna Chata, Polana and Utulna Durkova) were guarded, but most of them are not. We stayed at Polana and Durkova.
Also, a mountain cabin can also be a camp site, without any cabin at all.
My opinion : more difficult then the GR20 in Corsica because you don't know what to expect.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
Track types
Safety information
The trail is well signed by the familiar Red/white paint / arrows and signs. At the mountain cabins or camp site's we visited it was possible to refill the water canteens.
