Circular route through the Wetterstein - From Hammersbach over the Zugspitze to Ehrwald
This hut tour offers everything that makes an alpine hiking heart beat faster in three days.
Starting in Hammersbach with the impressive Höllentalklamm, then via AlpspiX to the Kreuzeckhaus.
On the second day down into the Reintal, to hike along the valley by the Partnach, past the Reintalanger hut up to the Knorr hut.
On the third day to the highest point in Germany, the Zugspitze, then past the Knorr hut down to Austria.

Stage 1:
From Hammersbach, go through the Höllentalklamm to the Höllentalanger hut. From there, via the Rinderweg through the Höllentor, note to AlpspiX and to the stage destination, the Kreuzeckhaus.
12 km, 6 hours, 1,767 m ascent, 318 m descent
Stage 2:
From the Kreuzeckhaus, go over the Bernadainsteig down into the Reintal, along the Partnach to the Reintalanger hut, from there up to the Knorr hut.
15.1 km, 6.5 hours, 1,068 m ascent, 667 m descent
Stage 3:
From the Knorr hut, go to the highest point in Germany, the Zugspitze. From there, go back down to the Knorr hut and towards Austria. At the Gatterl, cross the border and finish the route at the mountain station of the Ehrwalder Alm cable car.

By train to Garmisch, from there by Eibsee bus to Hammersbach.Directions
Signposted from Garmisch towards Grainau, Hammersbach, Höllentalklamm.Parking
No public parking at Hammersbach.
If arriving by car, possibly at the hotel/guesthouse where you stay at the end of the route if you do not return immediately.
Otherwise, park in Garmisch at the Eckbauerbahn car park (free) and from there take the bus to Hammersbach.

Please keep in mind that you are traveling in alpine terrain. We reach almost 3,000 meters elevation. On the way to the Zugspitze, snow is to be expected at any time of the year. In combination with wind, it can quickly become very cold!
