From Mosbach in the Neckar Valley to Haslach in the Black Forest as well as Meersburg on Lake Constance, the regional route runs through southern Germany. Fertile farmland, steep vineyards, colorful orchards, and extensive forests can be found just as much as natural waters, moorlands, picturesque mountains, and wide valleys.

24 half-timbered towns with medieval flair and romantic aura lie along this regional route and present visitors with various styles of southwestern German half-timbering, predominantly consisting of the "Alemannic" and "Franconian" timber-framing types. The diversity of southwestern German half-timbering arises from its long historical period as well as from the various construction methods and artistic richness.
Magnificent half-timbered buildings from the 13th to the 19th centuries adorn these historic towns; the oldest surviving houses are found in the middle Neckar area, such as in Esslingen or Markgröningen, as well as in Upper Swabia, for example in Biberach an der Riß.

The holiday regions of Odenwald, Northern and Central Black Forest, Swabian Alb, and Lake Constance-Upper Swabia, as well as the wild, romantic valleys of the Neckar, Enz, Kinzig, Riß, or Danube offer variety and relaxation. This ensemble of charming landscapes and half-timbered silhouettes evokes the dreaminess of ancient towns and provides the perfect ambiance to "let your soul dangle." In the towns, market rights are still exercised as has long been tradition. Markets and festivals are now a special attraction for visitors and fill the town centers with life.
Stroll through the alleys of our towns and feel the spirit of bygone days in many places.

If you are already in the area: don't miss the charming wine regions in the Zabergäu and the beautiful rolling hills in the Kraichgau-Lein valley.
