Comacchio Valleys Loop
From the Foce Fishing Station, near the Spina Open-Air Archaeological Park, the route continues toward Casone Donnabona, Valle Zavelea, and the Boscoforte Peninsula, a refuge for numerous bird species and a herd of Delta-Camargue horses living in the wild. You then reachthe Argine degli Angeli, a spectacular 5.4-kilometer-long strip of land that cuts through the valleys, giving you the sensation of cycling right through the water.
Once you reach the Bellocchio Fishing Station, an underpass allows you to cross under State Road Romea and continue toward Lido di Spina and Lido degli Estensi. From here, the bike-and-pedestrian ferry takes you to Porto Garibaldi, from where you can return to Comacchio by following the bike path; alternatively, from Lido degli Estensi, you can reach the city directly by cycling along the Comacchio Salt Flats, home to pink flamingos.
The route alternates between paved and unpaved sections, bike paths, and some stretches on mixed-traffic roads. Access to the Argine degli Angeli is reserved for pedestrians and bicycles and is subject to seasonal hours, which should be checked before departure.
