Safety information
GPS tracks are provided as a tool to help navigate. However, GPS tracks should never be followed blindly. Detours and closure signs take a higher priority than GPS tracks. Do not follow GPS tracks if there are indications they may lead to an unsafe situation.
Bad weather alternative: It is possible to bypass this stretch up until Rovereto by train. Timetables can be viewed at www.trenitalia.it. Be sure to purchase a separate ticket for your bicycle. After that point, a taxi that can transport bicycles would be required.
Roadbook
Continue on the bicycle path along the river. After less than a kilometer, the Via Claudia Augusta splits. One route heads toward Venice, while the other route goes through Verona to Ostiglia. You want to continue south along the river, taking the direction toward Verona and Ostiglia. If you find yourself going through the city of Trento, backtrack to the river, and head south.
Continue south along the river until reaching the turnoff to Mori. This is where you leave the Via Claudia Augusta, and head west for your final destination, Lake Garda.
From here, you begin climbing until reaching Passo San Giovanni. Although the elevation gain for the entire day is minimal, its concentration right at the last push of the entire tour makes it very noticeable.
From the pass, continue to follow the signage for the bicycle route to Torbole/Lake Garda, enjoying your very scenic, and rather fast, final descent to the lake.
