The route starts at the confluence between the Adda and the Po, ending at Castelnuovo Bocca d’Adda.
The landscape alternates very different views, from the jagged profile of the pre-alpine mountains to the irrigated plain, monotonous only to those who travel it by car, but revealing its secrets only to those who pedal along the banks of the river and its canals.
From the end of the 14th century to the end of the 18th century, the Adda was the natural border between the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of Venice, and it remains a border land today, well protected from urbanization thanks to the establishment of two Regional Parks that safeguard its natural heritage.
Cyclists are also well protected from traffic, as the route is entirely protected except for some city crossings and a short stretch of provincial road after Cassano d’Adda.
