Paddle through history, old canals, free-flowing rapids, and nature reserves on the Heinävesi route that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime! This fairly easy route offers a piece of the Finnish national landscape with narrow, winding waterways and archipelago-like lake expanses. The route starts from the Kermaranta boat harbor in the Kermajärvi nature reserve and ends at Kirkkoranta in Kolovesi National Park. The route can also be extended all the way to Joutenvesi and Linnansaari National Park if desired.
There are several camping areas along the route, allowing everyone to choose the most suitable day distances according to their preferences and weather conditions. The Heinävesi route length varies between 66 and 100 kilometers depending on the start/return point, and the trip takes from a week to ten days. The route requires basic paddling and trekking skills as well as normal physical fitness.
