The area around Trpanj is characterized by numerous pebble and sandy coves, Mediterranean vegetation, and stretches of coastline that are largely undeveloped. The Trpanj harbor area and Divna Bay are particularly interesting. The tour’s appeal lies less in spectacular sights and more in the combination of crystal-clear water, secluded coves, rocky coastlines, and Mediterranean scenery. Time and again, there are opportunities to moor the kayak at a small beach, take a break for a swim, or simply enjoy the tranquility of the coast.

    Author’s recommendation

Blace Bay, just a few minutes from Camping Virla, is known for its mineral-rich, peloid therapeutic mud. You should definitely try a mud bath.

    Safety information

On the open stretch of the Neretva Canal, you should keep an eye on the wind conditions. The maestral, which often picks up in the afternoon, can make the return trip significantly more challenging. That’s why it’s best to set out as early as possible.

    Roadbook

From Camp Vira, we set out on a scenic kayaking tour along the northern coast of the Pelješac Peninsula. Our first destination is the port and coastal town of Trpanj. We begin by paddling along the developed coastline, before the built-up areas gradually give way to a more pristine and natural landscape.

A highlight is Divna Bay, one of the most beautiful bays along this stretch of coast. Turquoise-blue water, light-colored gravel, and Mediterranean vegetation invite you to take a long swim break. Afterward, we circle the small offshore island of Divna and head back along the same route.

Shortly before reaching the starting point, we’ll make a detour to Blace Bay. The rocky reef just offshore makes entering the bay a bit tricky, as you have to find the right channel. The bay is known for its mud, which is said to have healing properties—anyone who’d like to can try it out for themselves here.
