Wonderful forest run over Thomassteg (Liechtensteinklamm) with Salzach loop

This wonderful jogging route starts right in Alpendorf. The first section goes very leisurely into the forest in the direction of Liechtensteinklamm. Then along the Salzach and at the end it goes uphill back into Alpendorf. Beautiful view!
The route starts at the Aktivhotel Alpendorf. First, walk directly to the Alpendorf playground, go through the underpass and then into the forest. Enjoy the wonderful view of the Salzach valley :-). After the forest section, we walk briefly on asphalt, but then return to the Salzachweg.
After 2.5 km, cross the bridge and at the school turn back onto the street and turn right towards Liechtensteinklamm. After 1 km it goes back uphill left into Alpendorf.
Author’s recommendation
Take another drinking break at the fountain at the Landhotel Lerch. Then it goes uphill!

Roadbook
We start at the Aktivhotel Alpendorf. First, walk directly to the Alpendorf playground, go through the underpass and then walk into the forest. Stay on this path (do not turn off to the Liechtensteinklamm in the middle of the forest) and only after the woodpile & the bench turn left onto the Thomassteig. Follow the path to the street and then walk in the direction of St. Johann. After about 500m, at the intersection, turn left towards Schwarzach. After another 50m, before the bridge, turn right onto the Salzachweg. Then keep walking towards St. Johann.
After 2.5 km, cross the bridge and at the school turn back onto the street and turn right towards Liechtensteinklamm. After 1 km at the Landhotel Lerch (on the right a fountain with drinking water), turn left again uphill into Alpendorf.
Public transport
Take the bus towards Großarl and get off at the Alpendorf bus stop.Directions
Via the A 10, the Tauern motorway, Bischofshofen junction, exit Sankt Johann, then on the B 311, the Pinzgauer federal road about 5 kilometers, exit Alpendorf St. Johann-Süd – about 3 km, turn left to AlpendorfParking
