The Outdoor Fitness Trails in the Heidiland holiday region comprise over 30 uniformly signposted running routes starting from a total of 10 stations, making it one of the largest outdoor fitness parks in the Alpine area. The Terzen-Trail is one of four running routes around the Unterterzen station.

The starting point for this 5.8 km long trail is the information point of the Unterterzen station on the lake side of the underpass to Unterterzen station (425 m above sea level). From there, it first partially passes through the Walensee resort. Then the trail follows the paved lakeside path to Mols. Constant companions on the left are the turquoise-blue Walensee and the imposing Churfirsten. Upon arrival in Mols, the trail passes through the railway and road underpasses into the village. Here begins the steep ascent under the motorway to Tisen (486). Further, the Terzen-Trail runs along a well-developed field path through a deciduous forest to Hamifiu (632), a large clearing with various farms and a splendid view of Walensee and Churfirsten. The hardest part is now behind you, as the last elevation meters to just below Oberterzen (665) run almost straight. Now it’s only downhill! Up to the Chammbach bridge (560), the trail runs along a well-developed field path on open terrain. On the final descent back to Unterterzen, the Chammbach is a constant companion. Here, the trail runs along a rather steep hiking path through a partly dense deciduous forest. Upon reaching the cantonal road in Unterterzen, the underpass brings you back to the starting point below the railway line.

    Author’s recommendation

The Outdoor Fitness Trails run mostly on official hiking paths. The hiking path signage also helps with orientation along the way.
