A 10-kilometer run with impressive panoramic views beyond the border: to the natural monument West-Eastern Gate, over the historic town center of Duderstadt and towards the Harz.
Your challenging running route starts at the Stadtpark in Duderstadt and takes you towards Ecklingerode. Shortly before the village, turn left. From here, you run steadily uphill, passing the Sielmann Hut up to the Sielmann Heights Trail.
This path continues past the fallow deer enclosure of the Heinz-Sielmann Foundation to the Franz von Assisi Chapel. At this point, you reach the highest point of your run at 300 meters elevation.
The small chapel is a special place: here the foundation founders Heinz and Inge Sielmann found their final resting place and you are offered a magnificent view over the Eichsfeld. The Heinz-Sielmann Foundation has been dedicated to nature conservation and the preservation of rare habitats for over 25 years.
From here, you run downhill and back to your starting point in Duderstadt.
