Not a very long round, but all the more mountainous along forest and gravel paths above Burgberg.

The round trip is not particularly long in distance. Due to its approximately 250 meters of elevation, which must be overcome without flat sections, the required time varies from 35 to 60 minutes depending on running speed. Thanks to the numerous steps on the Bachtelweg, jumping power is also trained. The tour is excellent for letting off steam after work. Especially at the highest point between Alpe Weiherle and Burgberg castle ruins, you are rewarded with a wonderful view of the Illertal valley.

From the parking lot at the Burgberg tourist information, we go left of the church along Altbgm.-Köberle-Straße and then continue straight on the Köpfleweg uphill through the village. Just before the upper edge of the village, we turn left onto Bachtelweg. After a few meters, the path turns right again toward Bachteltobel / Grünten (signposted). The initially asphalted path soon becomes a forest path. Along the way, you ascend enchantingly along a stream, frequently over steps. After about 10-15 minutes, we reach the street that leads from Burgberg to the guesthouse Alpenblick. We follow this uphill to the right. Just before Alpe Weiherle (left of the road), we turn sharply right onto a wide gravel path. This leads in switchbacks to a three-way fork (the highest point of the round trip). After enjoying the view, we follow the sign downhill towards the castle ruins / Burgberg. Now the path descends steeply in switchbacks past the castle ruins back to Burgberg (Important: always follow the signs towards the castle ruins!). After the first houses, we turn right onto Heimenhofenstraße. We stay on this until it meets Bergstraße. Here we keep left downhill and at the next intersection immediately turn right into Kirchstraße. After about 100 meters, we reach our starting point.

Parking
At the intersection of Sonthofener Straße - Blaichacher Straße, there is a small parking lot between the Burgberg tourist information and the church. Alternatively, you can drive from here about 100 meters towards Sonthofen and park in a slightly larger parking area on the right side of the street.Coordinates
