Wow! This is a challenge! On very well-developed alpine and hiking paths, the Maschgenkamm Trail leads up to over 2,000 meters above sea level. However, along the entire route, you are rewarded with a magnificent panorama.

The Outdoor Fitness Trails in the Heidiland holiday region include over 30 uniformly signposted running routes from a total of 10 stations and thus form one of the largest outdoor fitness parks in the Alpine region. The Maschgenkamm Trail is one of five running routes around the Flumserberg station.

The starting point for this 8.2 km long trail is the infopoint of the Flumserberg station at the Molseralp restaurant above the valley station to Maschgenkamm (1391 m above sea level). The first part of the route, like the Winkelzahn Trail, leads to the Winkelzahn clearing (1554). The well-developed alpine path passes alpine pastures, short forest sections, and a small high moor. From Winkelzahn, a partially steep ramp leads towards Katzenberg / Seebenalp. The effort is worth it because during the ascent you have a magnificent view of the imposing Churfirsten and the turquoise Walensee. From Katzenberg, the path then leads down to Seebenalp (1622) and past the three idyllic lakes Schwarzsee, Grosssee, and Heusee. After this short break along the lakes, another tough ascent follows, which makes trail runners’ hearts beat faster. A hiking path leads to Chli Güslen (1868) and the Cuncels (1935). Since the hiking path now descends to Heldloch (1845), you have time to enjoy the beautiful mountain panorama and the view into the valley — and to recover. Because at the end, the steep ascent leads up to Maschgenkamm (2019). You can descend into the valley by gondola.

    Author’s recommendation

The Outdoor Fitness Trails mostly run on official hiking paths. The hiking trail signage is therefore helpful for orientation along the way.
