Verbania, and the area close to this nice city, offers many opportunities for running passionates.

The ring is one of them and it's ideal if you would like to stay in one of the camping in the Fondotoce-Feriolo-Mergozzo area.

The track is composed by 2 sections:

    - the first part from Fondotoce natural park to Mergozzo is almost totally on a bikelane in the woodland. It starts from Toce's estuary arriving at Mergozzo, a very nice town in front of Mergozzo lake

    - the second part starts from Mergozzo and will take you back to the starting point followin the road that connect Morgozzo to Fondotoce. This section starts on the road but, after few kms, includes a bikelane too

This track could be a very good option for MTB-bike passionates due to the fact that it is almost totally an bikelane.

    Author’s recommendation

    • This is very good option for a run early in the morning (around 6 - 7am) because in this way you'll beneficiate of fresh air and pleasant environment. If accomplished later, especially in summer, temperature could become quite high (from July to August in the middle of the day 30°C are common).
    • If you would like to accomplish the experience in Summer maybe a mosquito lotion could be a good option.
    •  Unfortunately refreshment points aren't common. Consider Mergozzo as the only place where you could find some fountains. A bar is available close to Fondotoce railway station.

Considering the fact that the greatest part of this trail is on bikelane I do not think that there are some tricky/dangerous parts.

    Tips and suggestions

    None.

    Roadbook

If you are staying in one of the camping in the area simply reach Fondotoce natural park and from here simply follow the bike line.

If, otherwise, you would like to reach the starting point the easiest way is to follow the indication to Fondotoce and leave your car close to Isolino camping.

Another option, but you should be very well fitted is adding additional kms starting your activity from Verbania city center and follow the bike lane that connect Verbania Intra to Pallanza, Suna and Fondotoce. It is very panoramic and pleasant but it means to add around 10 km more.

    Equipment

    Standard equipment for runners.

The trail is a mix of asphalt and dirt roads, in my opinion trail shoes aren't useful
