From the start-finish sign of the Coburg Marathon, we run directly into the forest, where after about 100m we jog past the Haares Spring. We follow the path for about 800m before crossing the street "Am Klausberg" and continuing half-right. On the gently ascending land consolidation path, we can already see the transmission mast on the Eckardtsberg, our first stage destination.
We follow the land consolidation path but do not turn right onto the footpath towards Löbelstein; instead, we take the single trail leading downhill to the left. On this, we reach the street "Eckardtsberg" right at the former excursion restaurant "Klein-Amerika" and run along it for about 800m directly along the mountainside. We reach the footpath to the Eckardt Tower, which leads us up directly to the tower over 92 steps – passing another former excursion spot, the Eckardtsklause.
After reaching the tower, we can reward ourselves with a beautiful view of Veste Coburg. Afterwards, we continue along the chestnut tree-lined street to the bus turning area in Löbelstein and then a short piece uphill to the right. Here we see stairs on the left side. This time it is only 44 steps that lead us to the plateau south of the Brandensteinsebene Airfield.
We are now on the Coburg C Hiking Trail, which we follow to the forester's house. There we briefly leave the hiking trail and take a loop around the Veste Coburg.
Returning from this loop, we follow the orange C on a white background again until shortly before crossing the Cortendorf street, which connects the districts of Rögen and Cortendorf; here we leave it. We turn right onto the forest path, moving parallel to the road. After about 600m, we leave this forest path and turn right onto a trail. This trail continues to run parallel to the road. At the end of the trail, we turn right onto the gently ascending forest path. After about 800m, our path leads left onto the former construction waste landfill of the city of Coburg, which today has solar panel fields. We reach the forest and shortly before the forest edge orient ourselves left onto a downhill single trail that leads us to the Rögener Hut. We cross the street and run the last section on the Coburg Marathon course.
