The Danube Canal is certainly no insider tip - not even in winter.

But as a running route in Vienna for the winter, the 20.8-kilometer long riverside path from Nussdorf to Praterspitz is suitable. The advantages are obvious: the path is asphalted, so one rarely has to deal with mud here. Due to its location below street level, it is sheltered from the wind, and there are no traffic lights where you have to stop. Additionally, during the run you can admire the changing graffiti on the walls. That brings color to gray winter days.
