Do you know the ...?
No, don't worry, of course no old man joke is coming now, after all, this is about hiking. However, old jokes and hiking trails have one thing in common: well told or looked at from a new perspective, they seem new. This also applies to the Winzerweg near Mayschoß on the Ahr. Anyone who knows the Ahr knows Mayschoß. Anyone hiking on the Ahr knows the Ahrtalweg and the Rotweinwanderweg; of course, they also know the many beautiful views from Ümerich, from the "Eifelblick", from the Akropolis mountain hut or from the Michaelskapelle into the Ahr valley. They might even know the Judenkreuz at Bockshardt from the year 1728 or have stopped once at the Akropolis mountain hut or the Michaelishof wine house.
All these are ingredients of the Winzerweg. This route (12.3 km: 342 m elevation gain) offers anyone who wants to explore the surroundings of Mayschoß for half a day a pleasurable hiking experience. However: the Winzerweg is not a walk. The ascent from Reimerzhofen to the heights is strenuous, the path to Ümerich, located off the trail (recommended), has an alpine character and requires sure-footedness and a head for heights; the paths from Auelsbachtal to the Akropolis and from the Michaelskapelle require sturdy footwear.
