Roadbook
We cross the local road "Alte Heerstraße" and go straight ahead through the street "An der Heimbach" into the Heimbach valley. The narrow footpath leads us from Fellen in the valley up to Werlau on the heights. This protected landscape area with its natural stream and plant growth is also called "Werlauer Schweiz".
Once at the top, we see the district of Werlau ahead of us, which we approach. We pass the cemetery and turn left into "Bopparder Straße," which we leave at the second intersection to the right into "Kirchstraße" and after crossing "Rheingoldstraße," turn left into "Winzergasse." Here is the first place to eat, the "Alte Weinstube."
We reach the old cattle scale, turn right, and pass the sports field on well-developed farm roads following the signposts to the forest. By now, we have walked almost 3 km. Now it only goes downhill.
We enter the forest and take the left path at the "Alte Eiche," which leads us downhill to the state road in the Gründelbach valley. We turn right on this road to cross the Gründelbach footbridge after a few meters and go back into the forest. Now we keep left and walk on the forest path "Im kühlen Grund," passing the campsite & inn "Friedenau" to "Philipps Mühle." Both are inns. From here, we continue and pass the former city hospital, now the internationally recognized Orthopedic Spine Center. A few meters later, after the railway underpass, we reach federal road B 9 again. In the underpass, cross the state road and then go about 20 m to the left to the bus stop, where you then cross B 9 (caution, busy road) and continue along B 9 back to the district of St. Goar-Fellen.
The path is continuously marked with wooden signs showing a mill symbol.
Alternatively, the hike can also be done from the Gründelbach valley (heading towards St. Goar-Fellen).
