The approx. 8 km long circular route takes you through the forests of the Eifel National Park over the Dreiborner Plateau to the Sauermühle and back to Einruhr.

The circular walk starts at the Nationalpark Information Point in Einruhr. Here you can initially find out about the landscape features of the National Park region and the Rur lake. With a refreshment at the healing stone fountain located here in the courtyard of the Heilsteinhaus, the route now leads uphill out of the village onto the Dreiborner Plateau. The 33 km² large Dreiborner Plateau is an important part of the Eifel National Park, founded in 2004, and since then has been home to many endangered species such as the fire salamander.

Then, at the southernmost point of the circular route, we reach the Sauermühle, where water from the healing stone fountain is drawn. However, the Sauermühle and the fountain house have long disappeared. The former stone plaque of the mill is now located in the wall in front of the former rectory in Einruhr. The Latin inscription "Deo ViVo, a qUo CVnCta Dona proCeDUnt" (To the living God, from whom all gifts come) is well preserved.

Finally, the route heads back along the Sauerbach stream to Einruhr, where the idyllic and attractive route ends.

    Author’s recommendation

    Nature experience pool Einruhr:

In good weather, a "jump into the cool water" at the nature experience pool is recommended. It is located on the shore of Lake Obersee and has excellent water quality.
