The Wildensteiner valley enchants at first sight. At the western end of the romantic valley, located on the south side of Donnersberg, you find the freely accessible Wildenstein castle ruin. An information board provides details about the history of the ruin, of which remains of an outer wall and the bergfried (keep) are still visible.
UFFBASSE! – Campaign for a considerate coexistence in nature
- Always behave foresighted, friendly, and considerate towards all you meet on your way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Bring a garbage bag for the way and take your rubbish back home with you.
- Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- Observe all path closures for your own safety, even on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave room for rescue vehicles and agricultural machinery.
- Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Safety information
Especially in autumn, it is important to note that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or storms, trees may still fall or branches may break off afterwards. Especially under adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect path impairments of this kind when undertaking a hike. If you think certain path sections are not passable for you, you should bypass them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting parties on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking paths are closed and we might not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Equipment
For our hiking routes, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
- Sturdy footwear
- Clothing adapted to the weather
- Sun and rain protection
- Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always dining or shopping opportunities available or open.
- Although the paths are consistently very well marked, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map, so that, for example, in case of a thunderstorm or emergency you can quickly find a safe area.
