The circular hike leads to castle ruins of supraregional historical significance, such as the Hohenstaufen imperial castle Landeck, the Salian noble castle Schlössel, and the refuge castle Heidenschuh, which can be assigned to the Carolingian-Ottonian period.
A short detour to the Martinsturm on the highest peak of the Treutelsberg rewards visitors with an impressive panorama.
Klingenmünster was the 2014 state winner in the competition "Our village has a future" and recipient of the 1st Demographic Award of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. The castles Landeck, Schlössel, and Heidenschuh, the monastery in the town center, the Nikolaus Chapel, and the Martinsturm are gems on the Southern Wine Route and cultural-historical treasures of supraregional importance. On discovery tours, they tell exciting stories. The hiking paths Burgen-, Karlsplatz-, Panorama- and Quellenweg open up a charming landscape with southern flair.

General information:
Especially in autumn, pay attention that fallen leaves on the ground may cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees can still fall or branches drop afterward. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. You must expect these kinds of path impairments when hiking. If you think certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. However, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.
Tips and suggestions
The circular route is perfect for families.Roadbook
The circular route can be walked clockwise or counterclockwise. We recommend the direction opposite to clockwise.
From the parking lot at Burg Landeck, we first walk downhill towards Johannaquelle.
From there, it goes uphill to the Schlössel ruins. A little further is the Heidenschuh ruins.
A short detour uphill to the Martinsturm is definitely worthwhile.
On the way back towards Landeck, we pass the picnic area at "Stäämännlhöh'" and enjoy the view from the Weißen Felsen.
We return leisurely to Landeck.

Equipment
For our hikes we recommend the following equipment as standard:
Sturdy footwear
Weather-appropriate clothing
Sun and rain protection
Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always places to eat or shop available or open.
Even though the paths are very well marked throughout, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of thunderstorm or emergency.
