Beautiful circular hiking route with some ascents and nice views around Gräfenhausen.
The Wild Boar Trail begins at the sports ground in Gräfenhausen on the street "Zur Holderquelle" and leads left into the Semmerstal. The path goes straight until a path turns right to the Krappenfelsen. Here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over the Queich valley and the Palatinate Forest into the Rhine plain.
We hike uphill, crossing a large junction, to the Holderquelle. There is a resting place and a shelter there. A few meters further, you can make a detour to the Jungpfalz Hut, which is open on weekends.
We hike north on the Grimmeisen Path. At the next larger junction, we turn right. With a small detour steeply uphill, we discover the Summer Rocks. At the next junction after the Summer Rocks, the path leads parallel with the PWV yellow stripe marking on a narrow path back to Gräfenhausen, where you pass the sports ground into the town center and reach the starting point of the hike.

Refreshment option on weekends: Jungpfalz Hut. The hut is also open on public holidays. It is closed during the summer holidays of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Parking is available directly at the sports ground.
Those who want to hike for longer can extend the hike via Rinnthal using the hut trail. In Rinnthal, there is also the option to return to Annweiler am Trifels by public transport via the train stop.

Jung-Pfalz-HütteSafety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, note that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees may still fall or branches may drop afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or ravines are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. Expect impairments of this kind when you go hiking. If you think certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forest work or hunting societies on this platform. Still, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please heed the instructions for your own safety.

Roadbook
The Wild Boar Trail begins at the sports ground in Gräfenhausen, on the street "Zur Holderquelle," and leads left into the Semmerstal, initially parallel to the hiking trail "Palatinate Wine Trail." At a hairpin turn, the Wine Trail branches uphill, but you continue straight on the Wild Boar Trail towards the Adelberg, then at a crossroads uphill to the right to the Krappenfelsen. Here you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over the Queich valley and the Palatinate Forest into the Rhine plain. You can see the town of Annweiler at your feet and the Trifels Castle and the Asselstein about eye level.
Then the Wild Boar Trail goes uphill again, crossing a large junction, again parallel with the "Palatinate Wine Trail" up to the Holderquelle. There is a resting place and a shelter there. To the right, there is the option to return to Gräfenhausen using the Wine Trail. However, the Wild Boar Trail continues straight ahead and at the following junction turns right. A few meters further, you can make a detour to the left to the Jungpfalz Hut, which is open on weekends. From the Jungpfalz Hut, you have a beautiful view over the treetops of the Palatinate Forest with a wonderful long-distance view. There is also a great playground for little hikers.
The Wild Boar Trail then follows the Grimmeisen Path northwards, behind the Jungpfalz Hut parallel to the Rinnthal Hut Path. At the next larger junction, turn right and walk gently past the Summer Rocks. With a short detour steeply uphill, you can discover the interesting rock formations that lie exactly on the boundary between Eußerthal and Gräfenhausen. At the next junction after the Summer Rocks, the path runs parallel to the PWV marking yellow stripe on a narrow path back to Gräfenhausen, where you pass the sports ground into the town center and reach the starting point of the hike.
