The Stolzeneck castle ruins stand high above the Neckar and are worth a visit alone because of the many small hiking paths on the Neckarsteig. The old Staufer and imperial city of Eberbach lies directly on the Neckar. Eberbach is the city of old towers (Rosenturm, Haspelturm, Pulverturm, Mantelturm, and Blauer Hut). The visit is also worthwhile for the Neckar Information Center and the cooperage museum.

Two Neckar crossings await us. One right at the beginning. We will experience almost alpine terrain. Before passing the Stolzeneck castle ruins, we will have multiple opportunities to view the Neckar deep below us from viewpoints. At the Rockenau lock, we cross the Neckar again. A narrow path takes us upwards. The Teufelskanzel offers us a great view again. Finally, we reach Eberbach, where a reward for our hike can occasionally be found in the old town.

Roadbook
At the train station in Zwingenberg, we find the long-distance hiking route HW27. We follow it to cross to the other side of the river via a bridge. Our path initially ascends gently on asphalt. As compensation for the surface, we have beautiful views, especially of Zwingenberg Castle located across the river, which houses a youth hostel. We do not follow the HW27 consistently — so the track should be observed. In a curve, we switch to a forest path and soon turn right onto a small, inconspicuous trail. This soon leads back onto a forest path. Finally, we reach the Neckarsteig, which also leads us partially on narrow trails to Stolzenberg Castle. From now on, it goes downhill. In the valley, we cross the Neckar via the Rockenau lock. Be careful when crossing the road. Since there is no marking here, please pay attention to the track. We climb up through the forest. About 400 meters after the viewpoint Teufelskanzel, it would be possible to shorten the route straight ahead. However, we take the Neckarsteig path up to the right towards Schollerbuckel. We follow the N over the heights of Breitenstein. We follow the power line path. For a short distance, the path continues on asphalt. Then briefly right and left again. The N follows the field path to the right. We, however, hike down to the left. There, we encounter a paved road and follow the "R" marking along with the N, which has made a loop and virtually meets us, up to the Neckartalblick viewpoint. Now it goes on a narrow path and over steps, past the Löwenfelsen, down the descent. At the shelter on the Heiner-Knaub-Weg, it becomes urban, and so we follow the small streets down into the Old Town of Eberbach.
