Zniev Castle

Although the goal of this route is the ruin of the second highest castle in Slovakia, it is not difficult. On the contrary, the winding, varied path is perfect for families with children and less experienced hikers. It initially runs alongside a picturesque calvary, for which it is worth making a small detour and briefly leaving the green trail. Pine forest alternates with beech zones and meadows, which lead hikers to the ruins of Zniev Castle and offer beautiful views of the Great Fatra and the Turiec Basin. The hilltop is less than a 10-minute walk further west and reveals a view of the dense ridge of the Lučanská Malá Fatra. No trace remains of the castle that once stood here.
