The showpiece of the inner Tierser valley, the magnificent west wall stretch of the Rosengarten, can be admired better from nowhere else than from this splendid circular trail on the slopes of the Völseggspitze. The Völsegg seat located on a mountain shoulder or even the thousand-times photographed Wuhnleger pond are just the highlights on this wonderful round trip, which outperforms many highly praised mountain tours. Or is there a better cost/experience ratio anywhere?
From Brunnenplatz in Tiers, we walk 100 m west on the footpath along the main road LS 65 and arrive at the road junction near Hotel Paradies and the elementary school. We veer slightly right and take the village road "Völsegger Weg" (No. 4) uphill northwest to a fork in a ditch. To the left is the asphalt road with path No. 6B ("Völsegger Weg") continuing northwest on the meadow slopes uphill, later through forest to the right turn on the ridge of Völsegg at a fork in the road. From here we have a beautiful view deep down on St. Kathrein and into the Bozen basin with Gantkofel and the Ortler group above. We follow the road north uphill to a fork where we turn right onto a natural road. Passing below the Völsegg seat, 1208 m, in two hairpin bends uphill north to the forest edge and there to the junction point "Völsegger Bild", 1220 m (masonry wayside shrine, large wooden bench) at the foot of Völseggspitze. We hike on the upper (No. 4B) of the two eastward footpaths, gently uphill on
