With a wonderful Alpine panorama, the route goes through the Allgäu rolling hills from Wolfegg to Rötenbach. Along the way, we hike for a long time parallel to the course of the Wolfegger Ach, pass several wayside shrines, and cross the protected forest area of Maierholz. The parish church of St. Jakobus in Rötenbach and the Loreto Chapel on the edge of Wolfegg offer two worthwhile cultural detours on this route.

Roadbook
We walk on the right on a footpath out of town until a narrow asphalt road branches off to the right. We follow this to the next junction, where we turn right towards Rötenbach. After a field cross, the path joins the Wolfegg-Rötenbach road. Here, we walk a few meters to the left along the roadside to the Rötenbach town sign. Those who wish can make a detour into the village to visit the impressive St. Jakobus church. Our route turns right before the town sign and follows the course of the small road past Katzental. The street soon leads into a field path, on which we continue hiking through the Maierholz forest section. Back at the forest edge, the route goes gently uphill through meadows to Oppenreute. There, the path turns left onto a small asphalt road and leads us back to Wolfegg. After the town sign, we continue straight along Neckenfurter Straße, then turn right onto Fürst-Max-Willibald-Straße and left onto a meadow path. At the wayside shrine showing St. Nepomuk, we cross the street and walk left along a footpath to a parking lot. Before that, a detour is worthwhile along the avenue-lined path with stations of the cross up to the Loreto Chapel. At the other end of the parking lot, Rötenbacher Straße takes us back to the village center, where we turn right at Kaufhaus Ott to return to the starting point.
