Wirftbach loop Adenau with dogs

Starting from the parking lot at the official starting point of the Wirftbach loop at the church Kirmutscheid, we follow the marking down to the L10 and cross it at the farmstead.

It now goes diagonally upwards to the left until we reach a fork where we can now hike the circular trail clockwise or counterclockwise.

We choose counterclockwise and therefore keep right, following the wider forest path.
We stay on this path and continue parallel to the B258 above the forest edge towards Barweiler.

Shortly before Barweiler, there is a small chapel for hikers on the right.

In the village of Barweiler itself, we turn right behind the log cabin in Western style onto Römerstraße and then swing onto Hauptstraße.
Behind the church, we turn left onto Kreuzstraße and continue straight ahead into the fields at the end.
Here you will also find a signpost "Rundweg".

At a meadow, you actually go up this meadow. No path is visible here. Then continue to the left and we circle around the Hümmerich on the wide forest path (there should be another possibility to get directly to the chapel on the Hümmerich, but we did not find it).

After the loop, we take a short detour to the right and head to the viewpoint and chapel.

We now go back a little and follow the Way of the Cross with the stations down to Barweiler until we reach the weather station Nürburg-Barweiler of the German Weather Service.

There is a short section over the Nordstraße to the left until we again follow the path first to the left and then to the right.

It now goes downhill through the forest until we meet the K18 and then follow the Wirftbach to the left.

We follow the path past the fishing pond at the Barweilermühle and turn sharply left In der Wirft to now follow this path.

After a short section, the signposting actually leads us again over a meadow area directly along the Wirftbach. This leads us to another forest path, which takes us to the L10.

Here, for the first time, we search in vain for the trail sign and follow the left option into the forest.
It continues over an almost overgrown path up to a meadow above the Dreimüllerhof.
We now go down to the Dreimüllerhof and walk on the wide path parallel to the L10 above Wirft towards Kirmutscheid.

Soon we reach the fork from the beginning of the hike and head back to the parking lot.
