Track types
Safety information
The route often runs on so-called agricultural roads. These are used for farming and are driven year-round by tractors and harvesting machines. We point out that using these paths is at your own risk and ask for mutual consideration for the sake of everyone. The agricultural roads can be dirty due to farming traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.

Roadbook
You start at the Tourist Information at the historic town hall of Freinsheim. Cross the marketplace towards the Eisentor and pass through it. At the end of the square in front of the gate, turn right onto the narrow path "Auf der Schanz." You pass the Baroque garden and reach Badstraße at the end of the path. Follow it to the left, cross the street, and go straight ahead past the gas station along Riedweg. After the riding stables at the end of Riedweg, the path turns right. You walk along the Blossom Trail (marked by a Coreten stele with a cut-out blossom motif), pass several horse paddocks, and continue to the gated railway crossing.
After crossing the railway tracks, turn left and walk along the tracks. You can also follow the marking of Sandhasenweg 3 (rabbit with number 3). After the small slope, keep left and pass a small lake. After the lake, turn right and then again right after about 200 meters. Follow the path south, keeping to the rabbit marking. The Sandhasenweg then swings left and leads you to the playground in Ludwigshain below the Music and Cultural Association (MuK). Take the path beside the stairway to the right and continue below the MuK on the Sandhasenweg. At the end of the path, turn right into the hairpin bend (“Ludwigshain”) and continue straight on Sandhasenweg 3, which takes you across open terrain to the houses of Eyersheimer Mill. At the sign for the Kraut- und Rübenradweg (symbol of a carrot), keep right toward Erpolzheim.
Hike to the entrance to the town and turn left into von-Maurer-Straße. At its end, cross the main street and continue to the end of the bridge. At the wooden sign, turn right onto the path along the stream "Isenach." Follow the creek to the sign "Im Kitzig." Here, turn right again and pass the Kohl Winery (Georg-Amend-Straße) until you reach the main street. Cross it and enter Herxheimer Weg. This leads you over a small path into Portugieserring. At the sign "dead end," turn left and at the next intersection, turn right again.
Continue slightly uphill toward Freinsheim Cemetery with its prominent watchtower. At the top, go down the small hill along Friedhofstraße into town to Haintorstraße. On your right, you see the town gate "Haintor." Pass through it and at the next curve, turn left into Breite Straße. At the end of Breite Straße, your starting point, the Tourist Information Freinsheim in the historic town hall, is diagonally opposite. From here, you can also take a walk around the 1.3 km long town wall (see tip).
