Safety information
Our hiking and cycling paths often run on so-called farm roads. These serve agricultural use and are used all year round by tractors and harvesters. Please note that using the paths is at your own risk and we ask cyclists, hikers and vintners to show mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm roads can be dirty due to agricultural traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be wet and slippery.Tips and suggestions

Roadbook
You start from the Hist. Town Hall along the main street heading west, then turn right into Dackenheimer Street. Follow this street to the roundabout at the town exit. Use the underpass, pass the sports field on the left, and continue straight on the farm road for about 2 km. You will pass the sign "Vinum Horreum" and reach the sign "Cycle Path Dackenheim", which is located next to a distinctive weeping willow. Turn left and cross the golf course.
At the end of the golf course, turn left again and walk along the outskirts of Dackenheim. After the wall, you reach Cemetery Street. Turn right and immediately come to Freinsheimer Street. Cross it and continue straight along Herxheimer Street. After the small rest area at the Liebesbrunnenhaus, turn left onto the paved path and follow it to the entrance of Herxheim am Berg.
At the first house, turn left onto the unpaved path and continue straight to the next junction. On the right - worth a detour - is the Schlossgarten with St. Jakob Church. From there, you have a great view into the Rhine plain.
However, the path continues left towards Freinsheim. After crossing the railway tracks, stay right and cross the street at the Herxheim train stop towards Freinsheim. Continue on the path next to the tracks. Before the first houses of Freinsheim, keep left to enter the town and reach the main street via Holzweg and Herxheimer Street, which leads back to the Hist. Town Hall at the market square.
