A 9 km long circular route where nature lovers get their money's worth
The agricultural scientist Wilhelm Albrecht (1785-1868) studied the reasons for the unsuccessful agriculture in the Westerwald. He quickly recognized that one of the causes for the low harvest yields in the Westerwald was the wind, which eroded the soils. To protect against the wind, he had protective hedges planted. Remains of these can still be found in the landscape of the High Westerwald today. In honor of Wilhelm Albrecht, a monument was erected in 1879 in Emmerichenhain, which recalls the "Savior of the Westerwald."
Nature lovers will fully enjoy this hike, which also passes the Breitenbach dam. The dam is a special gem with rare animal and plant species. The approximately 47 ha area was placed under nature protection in 1988.
Author’s recommendation
The Breitenbach dam is also a club water body of the ASV Nistertal-Emmerichenhain and a wonderful paradise for anglers - guest anglers are "warmly welcome" and can contact the board if interested.

Safety information
If you believe that certain sections of the path are not passable for you, you should bypass them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You must expect such path impairments when going on a hike.
Although the path is very well marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable hiking map for safety reasons or download the free app "Rheinland-Pfalz erleben".
