The Wilden Mannle above Vent is a good opportunity for moderate hikers to get above the 3000-metre mark. Topographically, this pulpit may be insignificant, but in terms of views, you've hit the jackpot here! We enjoy an excellent view over the entire Venter mountain range as far as the main Alpine ridge and feel particularly captivated by the towering Wildspitze and the jagged Rofenkarferner. Two trails lead up to the Wilde Mannle, one directly from the south and the other from the Breslauer Hütte, which is a great place to stop for refreshments.
Take the Wildspitz lift from Vent to Stablein, 2356 m, and the connecting lift "Wildes Mannle" up to the mountain station, 2646 m. The hike takes us directly into the flank, along a sandy track, past the junction of the Rosenkarsteig trail, into rocky terrain (a bit of scrambling) and over boulders from the south to the summit of the Wild Mannle, 3023 m.For the descent, we initially head further north until the markings guide us down to the left from a notch (belays on a steep step). A little lower down, we turn right again onto the Rofenkarsteig (straight ahead would be a shorter route back to the lift) and cross the glacier runoff. The traverse leads through scree and boulder debris and climbs again slightly towards Breslauer Hütte, 2844 m. From there, descend on the much-used hut trail no. 919, across the Rofenkarbach stream and back to the lift station on Stablein. From there, take the Wildspitz lift down to the starting point at the valley station in Vent.

Mark Zahel
