Lunch is only possible in various restaurants in Jüchsen. Here is a very nice local history museum where finds from the Celtic period of the Widderstatt abandoned village can be seen.
In Bibra, you must visit the castle and the church with the Riemenschneider altar.
This hike is best done in May/June, as rare orchids can be seen along the path.

Hiking route: Themar Train Station-Langes Tal-Wachenbrunn-Deepest Borehole in Thuringia-Wachenbrunn-Abandoned Village Widderstatt-Jüchsen-Honigberg-A 73-Bibra Train Station
The hike starts at the train station of Themar. First, we walk through the town past the town hall and over the Werra bridge towards Beinerstadt. After the road fork, we take the third forest path on the right and at the path fork, which comes just after the turnoff, we keep to the right. We walk slowly uphill through the Langes Tal to the Celtic experience trail. Then we follow this trail without major elevation changes to Wachenbrunn and continue along the country road to the Russian transmitter, where the memorial stone for the Deepest Borehole in Thuringia stands. If you cannot cross the field without a path, you must go into the village of Wachenbrunn and from there to the memorial stone. From the memorial stone, we walk back to the edge of Wachenbrunn and turn left (hiking trail sign). We walk on the Celtic experience trail to the Widderstatt abandoned village turnoff, turn left here, and reach the excavation site of the Celtic settlement. Here, a small pond and benches invite you to linger. Further, we go past the information board up to the Celtic experience trail and continue to the village of Jüchsen. We arrive at the local history museum and keep right towards Honigberg. Now we go steadily uphill; in the upper part of Honigberg it is somewhat steeper to the summit and continue on the castle trail, turning left towards the A 71. This is crossed via an underpass. After the underpass, at a path crossing, we take the left path (hiking trail sign) and keep following the motorway to Bibra to the train stop.
