This hike is characterized by great variety with paths directly on the lake shore, but also ascents and descents that require sure-footedness and a head for heights (Große Steinwand). Fish can be observed in the shallow shore areas. In some places, broom blooms. The different shades of the lake water are wonderful. The advantage of this hike is that the return journey can be made by boat – see the timetables of the scheduled shipping service – and there are several boarding options available.
Author’s recommendation
This is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the region; fish and waterfowl can be seen, and the lake’s water shimmering in many colors offers a special spectacle.

Roadbook
From Neusach on the north shore of the lake, we hike about 2 km along a gravel path or a bit more challenging along the edge of the forest to Ronacherfels. From there, we continue through loose forest and past wet meadows always along the lake to the small Steinwand boat station, about 1 ¼ hours so far. Now begins the ascent to the small and large Steinwand with a deep view of the lake, suitable only for sure-footed and those free of dizziness. Then it goes again leisurely towards the east shore, benches invite you to relax and dream. After about 3 hours, we reach the Ortsee/Dolomitenblick boat station and comfortably return by boat to Neusach or Techendorf. The route can of course also be taken in the opposite direction.
